Accountable for human resource management, financial management, and quality management for department and programs within the incumbent's responsibility in support of the mission, vision, and objectives of YRMC.
Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in related field.
Experience Required: 5 years in a Medical Staff Services Department at a supervisory level; CPMSM certification from National Association of Medical Staff Services

Medical Staff Services Manager
Borgess Health, located in Kalamazoo, MI, includes more than 132 sites of care and 67 satellite clinics in 15 southern Michigan cities. The Borgess Health members form a health care network that offers a complete continuum of services to the 1.1 million people living in 11 counties in southwest and south-central Michigan.
The Medical Staff Office Manager reports to the Director Medical Staff Affairs and will oversee the daily operations of the Medical Staff Office at Borgess Health. The Medical Staff Office manager is responsible for supervising credentialing staff on the daily operations of the complete credentialing process. This will include complex credentialing issues. The Manager will interface regularly with senior medical staff leaders. This role is also responsible for the oversight of the credentialing and privileging of all medical staff and allied health staff with clinical privileges, as well as maintenance of appropriate practitioner credentialing files and related database systems.
Additional responsibilities:
• Maintaining practitioner peer review files, accurate medical staff bylaws, rules/regulations and medical staff policies.
• Coordination of medical staff dues and application fees.
• Providing administrative and clerical support as requested by leadership.
• Creation of agenda’s and the accurate recording and drafting of medical staff committee meeting minutes
Position Qualifications:
• Medical Staff Services Certification as a Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) and/or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred. Certification must be completed within two years of hire.
• Associates Degree required. Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration or a related business field preferred, equivalent courses, training and experience that include supervisory, management, medical terminology, and communication and writing skills will be considered.
• Five + years of progressive experience in medical staff and/or allied health professional credentialing with management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience in a computer-based information environment.
• Working knowledge of State and Federal laws relating to health care professional licensing, due process and provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and Joint Commission standards.
• Knowledge of Cactus or other credentialing system preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and functions of the medical staff services.

Credentialing Specialist-Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare System
The Credentialing Specialist provides timely and complete
processing of appointments and reappointments to the Allied Health Professional Staff and Medical Staff, maintains ongoing records and files, including annual Allied Health Professional competencies, coordinates emergency call schedules, communication of medical staff information, and other duties in support of the Medical Staffs of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - St. Francis, Franklin and Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital. Coordinates Medical Staff department, section, and committee meetings, including coordination of agendas, minutes, compilation of data and coordination of appropriate meeting follow up with chairperson and committee members. Ability to travel
between multiple Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare facilities on a regular basis and flexibility to meet a variety of scheduled meeting times (both early morning and evening).
Qualified candidate should be a certified medical credentialer or a
minimum of two years work experience in Medical Staff Services. High level of initiative and pride in work combined with outstanding
proficiency with internet and Microsoft applications. Flexibility to
meet a variety of scheduled meeting times (both early morning and evening) and deadlines. Ability to travel between multiple Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare facilities on a regular basis. Ability to deal calmly and interact effectively with members of the Medical Staff, Allied Health Professional Staff, Administration, and other internal and external customers.
