Medical Staff Coordinator
LOCATION: St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, Wisconsin
Full time Medical Staff Coordinator position open, Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Credential medical professionals for St. Vincent Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct support to the Credentials Verification Office for medical professional credentialing and administrative support for Medical Staff committees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Understand and live St. Vincent Hospital’s mission and values of Care, Joy, Respect and Quality.
2. Coordinate the process of initial appointments/reappointments of medical providers and allied health practitioners for St. Vincent Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center in accordance with The Joint Commission standards, Medical Staff Procedural Policies and CVO procedures manual.
3. Maintain individual practitioner files for medical staff members and allied health professional staff in a confidential manner.
4. Provide administrative support by coordinating activities within the hospital Credentials Committee, Medical Executive Committee, and annual Medical Staff meeting including attendance at these meetings and recording minutes.
5. Prepare monthly and quarterly reports to the Board of Directors regarding Medical Staff credentialing recommendations from the Medical Executive Committee.
6. Provide administrative support to Medical Staff officers and department chairpersons as it relates to credentialing, including individual orientation for newly appointed department chairs regarding their credentialing responsibilities.
7. Participate in new physician orientation and leadership orientation. Coordinate orientation packets for newly authorized allied health professionals.
8. Notifies appropriate hospital leadership of newly appointed physicians and authorized allied health personnel and circulates approved privileges/scope of practice. Maintain master privilege binder.
9. Support and comply with department and hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, and environmental and infection control.
10. Enhance growth and development through appropriate resources and attendance at WAMSS/NAMSS educational conferences at least yearly.
11. Serve as a hospital-wide resource regarding Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations and medical staff privilege delineation.
12. Regular and reliable attendance.
MARGINAL ACTIVITIES
1. Assist in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
2. Attend educational and mandatory in-services and participate in department staff meetings and process improvement initiatives.
3. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school education and additional training courses/workshops in Medical Staff issues including credentialing, quality assurance functions and The Joint Commission standards. NAMSS certification and/or Bachelors degree preferred. Three years experience in a healthcare setting working with Medical Staff. Knowledge of credentialing desired. Must have personal computer experience and database management skills. Ability to work independently in a professional manner, assertive in solving problems and making decisions, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Familiarity with medical terminology required. Membership in National and State Associations for Medical Staff Services preferred.

Medical Staff Services Coordinator
Job Description: The Medical Staff Services Coordinator provides administrative support, knowledge and resources needed for the medical staff (physicians, dentists and podiatrists) and the medical affiliate staff, to maintain Federal, State, and other licensing regulatory standards. Further, that individual coordinates meeting agendas, minutes, and appropriate follow-up. In addition, acts as a liaison between administration and hospital medical staff.
Full time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Located at Aurora Siani Medical Center, 945 N. 12th Street, Milwaukee, WI.
Qualifications: High School education or equivalent required. An associate degree in a related field preferred.
National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS), Certified Medical Staff Services Professional (CMSSP) or NAMSS Certified Professional Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred.
Minimum of three to five years of secretarial/administrative experience.
Knowledge of medical terminology and previous experience recording minutes of medical staff meetings.
Knowledge of Medical Staff bylaws, rules, and regulations preferred.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Must have proven track record of effective interactions with physicians.
Word processing skills.
